Not sure if this is your problem but if you *rest* a child bone
before its parentbone, youŽll get some distortions.
In otherwords its wise to place the bones first and *rest* them
starting with parent bone.

About the weapon...IŽd animate both in one sequence and split
them afterwards - youŽll get an exact position of the gun
with that.
