The first question seems to be easy enough, I'm not a LW user but it sounds like the awnser is a simple linking procedure. Lets say you have this neat plate in the models chest, well then i would try to place the plate so that it fits and then linking it to its most obvious parent...the actuall chest. To produce the animation i would move the the plate along its local pivot. Now the plate would inherit the motion of the chest and only add on its own animations to the actuall movment.

This is based on MAX but i think there must be something similar in LW.

The second is to LW specific so i cant awnser that.

: I'm making a transformer kind of model (that transforms) and i need to know how to make sliding objects - a cover plate that slides back and forth over something, and something like a fist sliding into an arm.
: Also, can I use seperate objects in Lightwave Layout, then save the frame as ONE object for the md2? or do i have to make just one object?
