Yeah, Phil's plugin is cool. Its even more efficient (and I use it too). But this is Speuger's first attempt at scripts/plugins for max2, and I wrote a tutorial for it, which covers not just exporting to ascii but base frame -> skin template creation and exporting to md2 using q2m as well.
For the record, I actually recommend using the plugin myself. Unfortunately I had posted this before I could find the plugin, so I didn't know any better. I had been looking for something that would allow
exporting in a more efficient way than .3ds files and speuger was nice enough to make it for me. Not being into the quake modelling scene at all, he didn't know any better either. If anything I'll leave the file up on my site in hopes that the tutorial might be of use to some people.
