: md2's and mdl's can only be made up of one object...just try loading a multi-object 3ds file and you'll see. the quake 2 player model is one object with several seperate parts. when an md2 looks at a model, it's all one object, but all it cares about is the points. you can have one object that is made up of many different parts, like the quake 2 guy, morbo, and lots of the monsters in quake2, but they're still all one object.


Well, we might call that whatever, I call it multi object model
if its in one piece I donīt have things like seperated boots or smth.
When I create my models they are usually made from more than one
object, and you can load multi object 3DS files into qME for example.
What qME actually makes out of it is a different thing. Its just
important for me to keep the objects seperated for better skinning.

However, I found a way to animate multipart objects in lightwave
and that was the original question ;)
Not "How is a multipart object defined as being multipart."
