"The railgun fires depleted uranium slugs at super high velocities. Take note of the distinctive blue corkscrew trail of smoke caused by the projectile - or better yet, see how many scumbag Stroggs it goes through before it hits concrete."



The id software people 'borrowed' this idea from the movie "Eraser" - a gun that fires a procjectile at extremely high speed and goes straight through flesh. It has a slow reload time, though, and no autoaim whatsoever. This means that in order to hit your target, you need to be behind him using the mouse, in close quarters, or extremely skillful (or lucky). This is best used against really big enemies, like the tank, if you just want to step out into the open, take a cheap shot, and run for cover again. In deathmatch, it is the ultimate camper's weapon, but with practice you can become skilled enough to use it in combat.
